Selected match officials for the upcoming African Nations Champions took part in a preparatory course from February 4 to 8 in Cairo, Egypt.
The 42 officials, 22 centre referees and 20 assistant referees, underwent intensive training ahead of the sixth edition that is set to take place in Cameroon from April 4 to 25.
The referees were taken through the courses by a team led by CAF Refereeing Director, Eddy Maillet. Other instructors were Jerome Damon (South Africa), Doue Noumandiez Desire (Cote d’Ivoire), Lim Kee Chong (Mauritius), Essam Abdel Fattah (Egypt), Mademba Mbacke and Mohamed Houssein Ali (Djibouti).
There were also sessions were centred on areas such as preparation for games, reading of the game amongst others critical to the decision making process in a game. The participant also took part in fitness exercise to check their physical preparedness for the competition.
Meanwhile, the draw for the final tournament has been fixed for Monday, 17 February 2020, at Palais Polyvalent des Sports de Yaoundé in the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde, at 19H00 local time (18H00 GMT).
