A crazy Japanese Super Cup Final between Yokohama FM and Vissel Kobe finished 3-3 after regulation time but the contest will be remembered for a truly bizarre penalty shootout.
The players didn't have much problem finding the back of the net during the match with Yokohama and Vissel sharing six goals but when it came to penalties, it seemed that no-one wanted to slot their spot-kick.

After a 3-3 draw then nine (9) penalty shoot-out misses in a row, Vissel Kobe finally win the Super Cup against Yokohama F.Marinos 3-2 on penalties #drama pic.twitter.com/yoEnK2SqOM
Both sides slotted their first two efforts from the spot, including a cool, calm penalty from Kobe talisman Andrés Iniesta, but then collectively proceeded to miss nine in a row as a shocked crowd watched on in disbelief. Ex-Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen even got in on the act by sending his kick into orbit, but his blushes were spared as Kobe finally slotted a third to win the shootout 3-2.
Vermaelen's ex-Barcelona teammate Iniesta captains the newly-crowned Japanese Super Cup champions.
It's unlikely you'll see a shootout like that one in a while.
