Former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Kevin Nolan has simply said Austin Okocha was to Bolton what Ronaldinho was to FC Barcelona.
Okocha earned legendary status at the Premier League club during prime success after moving from Paris Saint Germain in 2002. This included captaining the team in the UEFA Europa.
“I’ve never seen such a performance in 6 or 8 months that this guy brought us up and helped us stay up,” Nolan told an English TV programme.
“The things he does in training and taught us it was wonderful. He did to us in training what he did to opponents.
Nolan also revealed that Okocha’s iconic goal against West Ham was the turning point of the midfield maestro’s Bolton career....
“His goal against West ham, taking the ball on a run from the middle of the pitch, it was the catalyst.

“For all the players Sam brought in, none was like Jay Jay. He was like Ronaldinho was with Barcelona,” concluded Nolan.
