Kashiwa Reysol started the Japan League 1 season on a high note following a 4-2 victory over Consadole Sapporo on Sartuday 22nd in a match staged at Sankyo Frontier Kashiwa Stadium.
Kenyan international Michael Olunga produced a master class as he netted two goals while providing an assist in Reysol's victory over Sapporo. Teammate Esaka Ataru also grabbed a brace helping his side to register first win in the J1 League after the club's promotion at the end of last season.
After seeing much of the ball, Reysol took the lead in the 11th minute through Esaka Ataru. Michael Olunga had the ball on the right-wing, before cutting back and looked for Etaru, who went past two players before slotting home from a close range.
Nine minutes later, Etaru charged a long ball forward to Olunga on the left side. Sapporo's keeper Gu Sung-Yun came out running but Olunga was brave enough to round him off before making a run on the left-wing and finishing calmly with his right foot.
In the second half, Esaka netted the third for the hosts. Olunga delivered a searching pass inside the box and the ball landed on Cristiano's feet who played Esaka on goal, beating Gu for the second time.
In the 65th minute, Olunga made it 4-0, a goal similar to his first. Reysol produced a quick counter-attack and Ronaldo put Olunga through on goal, he rounded off Gu who came out running before slotting home with his left foot.
The visitors tried pulled one back three minutes later through Arano Takuma while Suzuki Musashi reduced the deficit to two in the 76th minute.
The victory sees Kashiwa top the top on their return to J1 League and they will take on Shonan Bellmare in their next encounter.
