Samuel Onyango scored deep in injury time to ensure that Kenyan Premier League leaders Gor Mahia beat hosts Zoo Kericho 2-3 in a league match at Kericho Green Stadium.
Kepha Ondati had given the hosts a 28th-minute lead after beating Peter Odhiambo with a neat diving header. Elvis Ronack pulled Gor back to level terms after nodding in a Boniface Omondi corner in the 53rd minute.
Matthew Odongo's rocket zoomed past Odhiambo in the 67th minute as Zoo regained the lead. A defensive lapse allowed Nicholas Kipkirui to tap home from low Geoffrey Ochieng cross. Kipkirui, a former Zoo danger man, had muted celebrations.
Both teams squandered several chances to break the deadlock with Steve Apudo missing a glorious chance in the 80th minute after skipper Kenneth Muguna had laid in a lovely low cross.
Onyango made the hosts rue their missed chances as he capitalised on another defensive blunder to turn another lovely Muguna cross past Misikhu Vincent in Zoo's goal.
The win sees Gor Mahia open a seven-point gap at the top and well on course to defend their title. They now have 48 points from 21 rounds of matches.
Zoo remain 14th with 12 points and desperately need to start winning to get themselves out of the danger zone.
