Hakim Ziyech opens up on who inspired his move to Chelsea in first interview as a Blue

Chelsea's new signing Hakim Ziyech has revealed that Frank Lampard was key in convincing him to sign.

The Moroccan will join the Blues at the end of the current campaign, following the finalizing of all details between the involved parties.

It was announced early this month that Chelsea and Ajax had reached an agreement on his sale, but was subject to agreeing on personal terms.

This was reached on Sunday evening, with the player signing a five-year contract with the London club.

"A big role," he said in response to a question on the role Lampard played in convincing him to join.

"We had a lot of contact in the last couple of weeks and he gave me a good feeling and that was also big to do with the decision," he added.

The 26-year-old further revealed he was elated to have signed for 'one of the biggest clubs', adding that he loved their style of play.

"Happy, proud, I am excited and I cannot wait," he said.

"It [Chelsea] is a big club in a big competition. I like the style of play, they play really attacking football, and that is something that fits me and that is one of the biggest reasons I chose therefore," he added.

He has been one of Ajax's shining stars in recent seasons and starred when the Dutch champions visited Stamford Bridge for a Champions League group clash.

Ziyech will join the Blues at the end of the current campaign.
