Belgian-born Heracles striker Cyriel Dessers is making efforts to calm his excited wait to don the famous green jersey of Nigeria.
As reported here on Futaa last year, the 25-year-old Eredivisie striker passed the point of only considering playing for Nigeria.
Speaking after topping the Eredivisie scorers chart with 14 goals in 23 games, Dessers confirmed playing for the Super Eagles is now at an imminent phase.
"There's been communication but I've got to keep playing as well as I can for Heracles, and hopefully that will happen soon," he said via Goal.
"I know it's a strong ambition of mine, but sometimes you need to stay focused and not get distracted as a professional footballer.
In addition to his own international dream, the player’s family is also in full support to see their own son playing for the three-time African champions.
"Everyone in the family is hoping - and to be involved with Nigeria would be incredibly amazing for my career, but I've got to keep proving myself first.
"To get a chance to stand at the door is a step forward. You start every day hoping for success at club level. If you keep working hard, hopefully, you make some life goals come true."
