Liverpool have been excellent this season despite being knocked out in the Champions League by Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
After 29 matches in the Premier League, Liverpool have only dropped four points so far following a 1-1 draw with Manchester United last year. The Reds were determined to finish the season unbeaten but suffered a 3-0 shock defeat in the hands of Watford. The defeat was followed by exit from the FA Cup in the hands of Chelsea after suffering a 2-0 defeat.
Despite Jurgen Klopp's men exiting the two tournaments, the squad still looks strong to challenge come next season. And former defender Phil Thompson has been speaking to Sky Sports regarding where his ex-club may look to strengthen this summer.
"I still think we need another striker and maybe a little bit more back-up for Andrew Robertson. We're not too bad at center-back, and I would like to think we are well-blessed in midfield," he said.
"I don't think the Philippe Coutinho one would ever come off again, to get him back, but it's that sort of player that we actually need to unlock packed defenses," he added.
Liverpool currently sit 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League.
