Absa Premiership coach Steve Komphela has reasoned his Player of the Season choices as the ones who showed the ability to make the difference in games.
The Golden Arrows coach was simply asked to offer some outstanding individuals as the PSL nears the end of this term.
“Maybe it would go to Nurkovic,” Komphela said to Soccer Laduma.
“I am looking at the ones who made a big difference in their clubs. Chiefs, through the force and power, Nurkovic was the light. (Lebogang) Manyama maybe second or third. And if you go to Mamelodi Sundowns then you have (Gaston) Sirino as the difference maker.
The former Amakhosi coach also took the moment to recognize players who stood out in Cup competitions: “When you look at these candidates you also have to look who won the MTN8 man of the series and the Telkom Knockout and the influential players in the Nedbank Cup,” Komphela added.
“There is a big possibility that the individual could come from Sundowns. Themba Zwane, Andile Jali and you look at the other difference makers. (Motjeka) Madisha and there is also (Nkosinathi) Sibisi from us, but it is a highlight because he would be competing with the big boys,” Komphela explained.
Komphela was also asked to predict which striker will eventually win the top goalscorer and went with his heart in Knox Mutizwa.
“I think he peaked a bit late. But one would pray that he wins the top goalscorer, of which I want (Lennox) Mutizwa (Arrows) to win so that he can feel that the amount of hard work he is put in is rewarded because he has done very well,” concluded Komphela.
