Liverpool has hit the headlines again for the wrong reasons, after refusing to refund 290 Atletico Madrid fans who were not able to travel to England for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash, due to coronavirus fears.
The match that took place on March 11 saw the Spanish team progress to the quarterfinals, but some of its fans could not travel, due to fear of the virus.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Atleti asked Liverpool to refund the €17,000 to those 290 fans but Liverpool has refused.
The Spanish club has now been forced to pay the fans themselves, something which has not sat well with the locals.
Diego Simeone's men will just be hoping their 3-2 victory doesn’t go to waste with both the Europa League and Champions League looking increasingly likely to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
