Senegalese forward Sadio Mane believes Jordan Henderson deserves to be crowned as the Player of the Year this season.
The Reds have had a brilliant season where they were leading the log by 25 points but the coronavirus pandemic has threatened their first league title in 30 years.
Mane has been one of the most outstanding players for the Reds but in an interview with TalkSport, Henderson has been a big part of the team’s success.
“I would go for Henderson. He’s been a big part of our success this year, both defensively and in attack. He was really good this year. A really good leader and a great captain,” he said.
Mane further hailed manager Jurgen Klopp and explained how his methods were getting the best out of the players.
“From day one since I came to Liverpool, he has always been positive with all the players. He gives responsibility to all his players, which can be a big, big part of the development of a football player. It is a big thing for a player to know you are given that responsibility by the coach, which he does to every player on the pitch.
“You are not under pressure. He is really positive, really nice but sometimes he is really hard as well. He is a hard person sometimes. But I’ve never seen any coach in my life as positive as he is,” he added.
Mane has bagged 14 goals this season 14 and is among the favourites to win the PFA Player of the Year award.
