Former Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson released by Salford City

EFL League Two side Salford City have reportedly released midfielder Darron Gibson from his contract as the league decided to call off the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The clubs at the bottom made it known that they wanted the season to end and Salford are already preparing for the 2020/21 season, with Gibson and other players not being offered new deals.

The former Republic of Ireland international who previously featured for Manchester United and Everton managed to make four appearances for Salford this season.

Josh Askew, Craig Conway, Kieran Glynn, Kyle Letheren, Chris Neal, Michael O'Connor, Nathan Pond, Devante Rodney, Mark Shelton and Scott Wiseman are the other players who have been released from their respective contracts.

England-born Gambia international Ibou Touray's was handed an additional season to his contract.
