Serie A side Brescia are set to terminate Mario Balotelli's contract after he failed to return to training ahead of league restart, Italian media reports.
Sky TV reports that the former Manchester City star was involved with Brescia president Massimo Cellino after the he failed to turn for training following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
The reported added that Balotelli was offered a mutual termination which he rejected and the club sent a formal letter to his lawyers indicating that they will unilaterally rip his contract.
The 29-year-old signed a three-year contract with his hometown club last year after they earned promotion to the top flight for the first time since 2011.
The former Italy international has scored five league goals in 19 appearances this season for a struggling Brescia side who are bottom of the league standings - nine points from the safety zone with 12 games left.
