Just as it happened last season, the 2019/20 English Premier League golden boot race might go to the wire.
Jamie Vardy had been enjoying some form at the top of the pile for some time but Leicester City poor form has allowed those around him to do some catch up with the English forward now at per with Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang; both having found the back of the net 19 times.
The Gabon striker bagged a brace as Arsenal brushed aside a sorry Norwich side at the Emirates on Wednesday. Aubameyang finished joint-top alongside Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane on 22 goals last season las season and remains in place for another accolade this term.
No striker had a better outing than Vardy in the first half of the season where he bagged 13 goals in a ten-game run. The goals though have dried up with the player only netting just two goals since December.
While goals have dried up for Vardy, his fellow Englishman Danny Ings has picked form at the right time. Having struggled at Liverpool with injuries, Ings is making a claim to be included in the England national team after grabbing 18 goals so far this season; an outing that hasn’t raised his stake but the stake of the team that was in the relegation zone in the first half of the season.
