Manchester City might have lost the Premier League title but it seems they are not yet done in breaking records.
According to Opta, City completed 93.7& of their 840 passes at the Etihad this evening – a new record for the division.
An utterly dominant performance eventually saw City emerge with a 5-0 victory. Gabriel Jesus put the Manchester giants on their way inside 10 minutes before Riyad Mahrez quickly added a 2nd.
Federico Fernandez’s unfortunate own goal then essentially put City out of sight on the hour mark, before further strikes from David Silva and Raheem Sterling rounded out a comfortable evening’s work for Guardiola and co.
93.7 - Manchester City completed 93.7% of their passes against Newcastle (787/840), the highest recorded figure in a Premier League game since full passing data is available (2003-04). Pollock. pic.twitter.com/RDlj2DRUjS— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) July 8, 2020
