UCL: Why Gareth Bale wasn't included in Real Madrid's squad to face Manchester City

Zinedine Zidane has revealed Gareth Bale requested not to be included in Real Madrid's squad for the upcoming Champions League fixture against Manchester City. 

Madrid will be heading to Etihad Stadium to take on City in the return leg of the Champions League the last 16-tie having lost 2-1 in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu. Zidane named his 24-man squad for the away test but Bale wasn't among the players traveling to England. 

"It was a personal conversation I had with him. He preferred not to play. The rest remains between me and him but he said he didn´t want to play," said Zidane. 

The last match Bale made an appearance for the Los Blancos was on June 24th against RCD Mallorca.
