Newport County on the verge of completing loan move for Bristol City youngster Antoine Semenyo

London-born Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo is closing in on a loan move to EFL League Two side Newport County ahead of the 2020/21 season, Ghanasoccernet confirmed.

Semenyo registered one goal in 18 appearances for Sunderland last season and now he will be looking to improve in his development while relishing in a new challenge.

Newport County manager Michael Flynn in an interview expressed his keenness in signing the Bristol City-owned youngster.

“I want to spend a little bit more on a proven player than taking two gambles, that’s the ideal way to go,” he said.

“We’ve all got to adapt and cut our cloth accordingly but hopefully we can have a player like a Ben White or an Antoine Semenyo on their first loans.

“We’ve got to take a few blind, as in unproven, but we have done it before and hopefully we will do it again.

"We are obviously a club that will develop players and help them improve.”
