Scoring 20 or more goals in a domestic league campaign is one thing, but doing it year upon year is quite another.
Arsenal striker and talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of the most consistent goal-scorers across Europe. He had to settle for a share of the Golden Boot in 2018-19 alongside fellow African superstars Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah, and he came short of Jamie Vardy's tally of 23 in 2019-20, the season just finished.
Still, Aubameyang is the only Premier League player to have scored 20+ goals in the last two seasons and he's part of an exclusive club of four players in Europe's top five leagues who have scored 20+ in each of the past FIVE seasons running.
🌍 Top five Euro leagues: 20+ goals for five seasons running
- 🇬🇦 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
- 🇵🇱 Robert Lewandowski
- 🇦🇷 Lionel Messi
- 🇵🇹 Cristiano Ronaldo
That's quite an elite bracket of goal-scorers. If there was ever any doubt about Aubemeyang's world-class status, that has surely now been dispelled. Arsenal will be delighted that their captain has finally put pen to paper on a new three-year contract running until 2023.
