Carlo Ancelotti is happy with the squad depth he has at Everton after their 3-0 win over Salford City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
Speaking after the game, the Italian said that he was satisfied with the results and was impressed by his youngsters such as Anthony Gordon, who took eight shots – the most by an Everton player since Kevin Mirallas back in April 2017.
“Our goal was to move on in this competition, to go forward with a good performance and attitude. I have seen all of this – and some good performances. I have confidence in all the players.
“You have to be patient with young players because they have to improve and reach the top level. It is important for them to stay focused, be patient and work hard.
“There was a good spirit in the team, from the players who haven’t played a lot with us, too. When the spirit is good the performance is usually good. I am satisfied with this match,” Ancelotti told Everton’s official website.
Everton managed 32 shots against their opponents with their goals coming from Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Moise Kean.
The win will now see Everton face Fleetwood Town in the third round of the competition but attention shifts for their weekend game against newcomers West Bromwich Albion.
