Rio Ferdinand blasts 'frustrating' Man United over lack of transfer business

Rio Ferdinand has blasted his former club, Manchester United, following a 'frustrating' transfer window.

The Reds' only acquisition of the current window has been Donny van de Beek from Ajax in a £40 million deal, while there's little to show of a deal to sign their primary target, Jadon Sancho.

Ferdinand is particularly concerned since Chelsea, and other top sides, have strengthened with some exciting players going into the new season.

"Frank (Lampard) has made signing players like it's the norm like it's easy – water off a duck's back," the former defender said during an appearance on the Five YouTube Channel.

"The difference in the way Chelsea have done their business compared to say my team Man United… there is no noise, there's nothing going on, all you're seeing is bang – deal,"

"Little bit of talk, bang-deal. That is what's frustrating for me and all the Man United fans,"

The club is also struggling to get rid of some deadwood, with the likes of Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Jesse Lingard still at the club.

United have also been linked with a number of other top players, including Thiago Alcantara and Sergio Reguilón, with the latter expected to join Tottenham in the coming days.

The Reds will be in action for the first time this weekend when they host Crystal Palace at the Old Trafford on Saturday.
