English Premier League champions Liverpool are set to test Anderlecht’s resolve by bidding for Jeremy Doku this window.
The Reds are saying to be looking for a long term replacement for Sadio Mane and have earmarked Doku for that role.
Het Belang van Limburg now reports that Liverpool still has an interest for the 18-year-old Belgian with his club slapping a price tag of £27.5million for the player.
But the Belgian club would reportedly hope to have Doku return on loan for the upcoming season if a sale is agreed.
The Reds have started the season in a good fashion after winning their opening two games against Leeds United and Chelsea FC; Mane scoring a brace in the latter’s win.
They have already acquired the services of midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich and Diogo Jota from league rivals Wolverhampton Wanderer.
Klopp is said to be keen on another winger having been linked with a move for Watford’s Sarr; Doku said to be the cheapest option to Sarr.
There is still a chance of Liverpool coming for 18-year old Anderlecht forward Jeremy Doku - but they will have to match their £27M asking price AND agree to loaning him back for one year, or a similar formula.
