Chelsea comfortably beat Krasnodar 4-0 in their second match of the Champions League Group E clash.
After a goalless draw against Sevilla last week, Chelsea responded well with a huge victory thanks to goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, and Christian Pulisic. It was the best response from the four players as Jorginho had missed a penalty early in the first half.
Chelsea were awarded a penalty in the 13th minute as Azpilicueta made good yards down the right and fired a clever ball into Timo Werner who nicked the ball past Kaio and cleverly drew the foul the center-back. Jorginho stepped up to take it but he hit the post. That was the second penalty for the midfielder to miss this season as he failed to score from the spot against Liverpool.
In the 37th minute, the Blues took the lead through Callum Hudson-Odoi and it was a howler from goalkeeper Safonov. The Chelsea forward took a shot from 15 yards straight to the keep but the shot-stopper lost concentration though and fell awkwardly on the ball before it kissed the back of the net.
In the 76th minute, Chelsea were handed another penalty as Krosnador's defender handled the ball inside the penalty area. Timo Werner stepped up and made no mistake, making it 2-0 for the Blues.
Ziyech scored the third goal as Werner pulled out left and fired a ball across goal. Ziyech was there waiting for the ball and fired a lovely finish into the bottom corner.
Krasnodar's goalkeeper had a night to forget as Christian Pulisic added the fourth in the stopped time. Pulisic jinked into the box down the right and decided to take the shot on from a tight angle. Safonov should have it covered but allowed a tame effort to fly through him.
The victory now means the Blues go top of Group E with four points, three above Sevilla who play later today.
