Pep Guardiola warns Man City need to 'be careful' with Aguero

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants the club to 'be careful' with how they manage Sergio Aguero’s first team return to ensure he doesn’t suffer another injury setback.

City's all-time top scorer was out of action for five months prior to his return last month, but then picked up a hamstring problem during a league game at West Ham.

The Argentine has however recovered and was an unused sub during Saturday's loss against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues have struggled for goals this season, managing only 10 in the league, and will welcome Aguero's prowess in front of goal.

Speaking ahead of their Champions League clash against Olympiacos, Guardiola noted that there was need to ensure the striker is ushered back into the team with care.

“I will not say we don’t need Sergio - we need him. But Sergio at 32 was five months injured with a difficult and dangerous injury,” Guardiola noted.

“He was injured in a dangerous area, he came back and played for 50/55 minutes and then was injured again.

“I want him to be fit because I know what he has done in the Premier League - he is important for us.

“But we have to be careful and (make sure) that he doesn't come back and get injured again.

“We have to see the right moment to put him back.

“Hopefully, he can come back and maintain the regularity to play games.”

Meanwhile, City will qualify for the knockout stages of the  Champions League if they pick a positive result in Greece.
