Barcelona captain Lionel Messi is set to be rested when his side takes on Ferencvaros as head coach Ronald Koeman eyes to keep the Argentine fresh for upcoming matches.
Messi has played in every match this season including four World Cup qualifiers for his national team Argentian before he was rested when Barcelona beat Dynamo Kyiv 4-0.
"I understand that it's not normal for Messi to rest but in this schedule, there were only two moments where Messi could rest, the game in Kyiv and tomorrow's game," Barca coach said during a press conference.
"We have to give opportunities to other players and Saturday's game is very important. We need to win. There were only two opportunities to rest him but after tomorrow he won't rest anymore."
The Spanish giants have already advanced to the last 16 of the competition with two games to spare.
