FA issue statement after Millwall fans boo players for taking the knee

The English Football Association has been forced to release a statement following incidents at Millwall on Saturday.

After the UK government allowed some stadium to welcome fans to their grounds, Millwall gave 2000 fans the chance to watch their game against Derby County at The Den but a section booed the players when they took the knee before Kick-Off to highlight the Black Matter movement.

Due to the incident, a statement from the FA cited by Daily Star noted: “The FA supports all players and staff that wish to take a stand against discrimination in a respectful manner, which includes taking of the knee, and strongly condemns the behaviours of any spectators that actively voice their opposition to such activities.”

Kick it Out, the organization tasked with educating those within the game on certain issues, also issued a statement of their own saying that they were saddened by the incident.
