Arteta provides injury update on Partey and latest on Saliba

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Thomas Partey will miss the next couple of matches with yet another injury.

The midfielder had been out since picking an injury just before the international break but returned to the starting team against Tottenham last weekend.

It was not the best of decisions though as he limped off just before half-time, and Arteta has revealed he suffered another injury 'in the same area'.

Speaking ahead of Arenal's Europa League clash on Thursday night away to Dundalk, the Spaniard revealed he will be out for a while, and played down talk that the Ghanaian was rushed back.

"He got injured in the same area, not exactly the same spot but the same area as before. He will miss the next few matches," Arteta said.

"He did incredibly well and he was very confident. We tested him three times and he had zero symptoms, but in football, you have a lot of unpredictable actions. He went into the floor, his knee got stuck, afterward, he stretched and got up,"

"Immediately he put a lot of stress in a similar area and it happened. Afterward, people will say it was a bit early but I don't think it was because he was completely fine to play,"

Arteta further talked up William Saliba's position at the club, hinting yet again at a possible loan deal for the youngster.

"Whenever we have the spaces and we believe that he's ready to play with us. To be fair, he's made massive improvements in the last few months and it's been a really tricky situation for him,"

"As I mentioned before, designed a pathway for him and there were a lot of things that happened to him in his personal life and professionally as well,"

With his team safely through to the next round, Arteta is expected to heavily rotate his squad in order to give opportunities to the younger players and keep his side fresh for weekend Premier League action.
