Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been awarded the Supernova Award at the This Is Manchester Awards for 2020.
The awards recognize people, heroes, places, organizations, and communities that have in one way or the other touched lives, and Rashford falls in that category following his campaign for children in the UK.
Rashford said: “I’m honored to receive this award and would like to thank those who have nominated me for it.
“This award demonstrates the power of working together to fight a common cause. So much more needs to be done though, in the fight against child hunger and this award will help motivate me and those involved to continue our efforts.”
2018 Supernova winner John Roberts, founder of AO.com was among those who congratulated Rashford, saying;
"Talenti s evenly distributed but the opportunity is not, thank you Marcus for your extraordinary work in shining a light on this national disgrace.”
The forward has won numerous awards for his campaign, including the Sports Journalists’ Association’s (SJA) Sport for Social Change award, which he won in November.
He has also been recognized by the Queen for his campaign, which has seen millions of children benefit across the UK.
