Wolves 2-1 Chelsea: Neto's stoppage timer winner hands Blues second consecutive defeat

Chelsea suffered a second consecutive defeat in the Premier League following a 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton on Tuesday evening.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for Chelsea after the restart of the second half before Podence drew level minutes later. In the stoppage time, Pedro Neto grabbed the winner from a counter-attack to hand Chelsea the second consecutive defeat.

Chilwell delivered a beautiful cross and Giroud snap-shot squeaking through Patricio, who tried to claw it away from the line. The Centre referee looked at his watch and goal-line technology did its job. The ball was over the line but not by much.

Wolves responded immediately as Neto drove at Chelsea back four and his cross-shot was turned home by Silva who looked way ahead of the play. However, the goal could not stand as the forward was in an offside position before receiving the ball.

Minutes later, Wolves found an equalizer, out of nothing. Traore went down but won a corner as Boly's effort was deflected behind. From the corner, Podence found space just inside the box and whipped a clever effort that beat Mendy at his near post.

Neto went down after a challenge from Reece James and the referee pointed for a penalty. There was a quick VAR check and the replays showed there was no contact and the decision was overturned.

In the 94th minute, Wolves produced a brilliant counter-attack and it was one against four as Neto unleashed a shot outside the box that went past Mendy and at the back of the net.

Frank Lampard's men now miss the chance to go top of the Premier League while Wolves are 10th on the log.
