Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is expected to leave English giants Liverpool in the summer.
Wijnaldum was strongly linked with a move to FC Barcelona last summer but a deal didn't materialize but it is thought that the Laliga giants are still keen on the player with manager Ronald Koeman being a big fan of the midfielder.
Talks between the player's representatives and Liverpool have stalled with reports rife that the club is not willing to meet the players' demands where he wants his current salary to be doubled.
The Athletic now reports that Liverpool tends to have a firm stance on new contracts for players over 30 and despite the player being a popular figure at Anfield, his demands are considered exorbitant by the club.
The club too feels that they have plenty of options in Wijnaldum's position after acquiring the services of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich last summer with captain Jordan Henderson and Oxlade-Chamberlain all capable of playing in the same position.
