Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has revealed he might never play Anthony Akumu in central midfield again.
The imposing Kenyan joined the mighty Chiefs from Zesco United last season to play his football in central midfield under the departed coach Ernst Middendorp, but game-time was scarce as the likes of Willard Katsande, Kearyn Baccus and George Maluleka offered more dynamism.
Now after two glowing performances in central defence, coach Hunt has found himself a new reliable defender, though Akumu is no stranger to the position.
“He's not a midfielder, he's not a midfield player, no chance," Hunt via Kick Off.
"I don't know what he was signed as but he's not a midfield player. He's played the last three, four games because obviously, we've got [injury] problems.
"He's done well, I thought he was excellent [against City] and long may it continue,” concluded the four-time league champion coach.
