Liverpool v Burnley: Team news

Liverpool have been handed a major injury boost with defender Joel Matip back in training.

The defender has been missing since picking an adductor injury on December 27 but has now joined his teammates ahead of Thursday night's clash against the Clarets.

Speaking ahead of the match, coach Jurgen Klopp said;

“Joel is in full training,” the Reds boss said at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

“Now we have to make a decision and we will see how that will be until tomorrow. Yesterday he trained completely normal.”

Klopp has no fresh injuries in his team, and revealed Diogo Jota, who has been out for weeks now is still some way off.

“I don’t know exactly how long but it will not be in the next one or two weeks,” he said of the forward’s knee issue. “He needs time, the injury needs time.”

Klopp's Burnley counterpart Sean Dyche has a few injury worries but will be hopeful of welcoming full-back Charlie Taylor into his squad again.

“He is certainly back in contention, we gave him an extra few days from the last game. He is back in the thinking,” Dyche told reporters.

“The hardest job is to get them all Premier League fit because that comes when you get out and play.”
