David De Gea opens up on his leadership role at Man United

Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea has admitted that he is taking an active role in leading the current crop of the club’s young players.

De Gea is one of the longest serving players at United and in an interview with United Review, the former Atletico Madrid revealed how he is determined to lead the way as he has won a lot of top honors with the club.

“I'm trying to lead and be a leader. The young lads might look at me and see I have been here a long time, and played a lot of games, and I think the most important thing is to show your experience on the pitch and in the games by trying to help the team.

“I try to make big saves in the games and train hard as well. Training is very important too and always to give your all.

"I have the experience of winning big titles here. I know the feeling of winning things and, this year, we have an opportunity to win a trophy and we cannot miss big chances," he said.

The keeper had a dip in form lasts season but the return of Dean Henderson from his loan spell at Sheffield United seems to have reignited the player this season where he has been a cog in the team.
