DStv Premiership side Maritzburg United have bolstered their defence with Marcel Engelhardt.
The relegation-fighting side will add to the notable German connection at the club that has coach Ernst Middendorp and former Bundesliga players Delron Buckley (assistant coach) and Rowen Fernandes (goalkeeper coach).
"Engelhardt, who has signed a two-and-a-half year deal, arrives from Eintracht Braunschweig, a club based in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, which competes in Germany's 2 Bundesliga division," the club confirmed.
"The 27-year old German goal keeper joins us from Eintracht Braunschweig in the German second division.
The club known as the Team of Choice, aim to replace the departed Richard Ofori who joined giants Orlando Pirates in July, with the initial Zambian replacement Sebastian Mwange now facing an uncertain future.
"I had a few calls with coach Ernst and he convinced me to take this trip to South Africa to join the Team of Choice. I didn't have to think about it a lot, I just packed my stuff and came here," said the new man.
Meanwhile, Maritzburg are third-bottom with three points away from safety and 17 league games to stay in the top division.
