🇫🇷 William Saliba says Arteta only judged him on two matches

Arsenal defender Wiliam Saliba has expressed his disgultness to French media after getting loaned out to Nice last month.

The 19-year-old central defender was originally signed for around £27m from St Etienne in 2019 where he remained on loan, before the return to Arsenal this season where he was surprisingly loaned out again.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had told the media that Saliba ‘had some personal issues’ while also needing game-time.

The Frenchman has since made himself available to share his own views.

"It is clear that so much has changed in the last year," he told RMC Sport, as reported by Sky.

"When I saw that the coach changed a lot changed for me too. In this year there has been a lot of change. He [Arteta] judged me on two and a half matches. I would have liked for him to play me more. But he told me I wasn't ready.

"I was waiting for him to give me a chance, but football is like that. When I initially came to Arsenal the league looked very good, so I showed up to training and wanted to train on my own to show the coach I was ready.

"I am happy now. I want to play for Nice. The idea when you're part of a team is a better feeling for me,” concluded the defender with seven appearance for Lille since joining in January.

Nice, who are placed 13th in the 20-team Ligue 1, next take on Nimes in the Coupe de France on Wednesday.
