Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has revealed Harry Kane requested to not be included in the squad to face Wolfsberger on Thursday in the Europa League.
Kane didn't travel with the Spurs' squad for the first leg of the Europa League's last 16 tie against Wolfsberg. Mourinho says the England international, who has played three games in six days since his return, asked not to be considered for selection.
"[He is an] experienced guy that had injuries in the past. He knows his body better than anyone," Mourinho said after the game.
"He knows that I want him to play every minute of every game, so it's never a question of a choice. I wanted to come here with the best team and the players that could give us more opportunities to win the game and get a good result, but he made the decision based on his feelings."
"His feelings were that to play this game could be a risk with the accumulation of minutes after the injury that he had. Of course myself and the medical department, we agreed with him in giving him this opportunity to take care of his condition, but I believe on Sunday he will be OK and ready."
The north London side registered a 4-1 victory without Kane.
