Bongani Zungu's career at Rangers is hanging by a threat after the South African midfielder broke the club's Coronavirus saftey guidelines.
As reported here on Futaa last week, Zungu and a group of Rangers youngsters enjoyed a public party while exposing themselves and the club's squad and staff to the virus.
Saying whether the club will decide against exercising the option to sign the 28-year-old's Amiens loanee on a permanent deal, Gerrard suggested Zungu is no longer in his plans.
"I think that would be fair to say, yes," the Liverpool legend said to Scottish media.
"That will take care of itself and we’ll move forward with the players who have remained professional and want to be part of a successful team.
"We spoke as a group and I explained the situation to them. We’re at such an important time of the season with the fixtures coming up that we can’t be worrying about it or letting our focus slide," Gerrard concluded.
Zungu joined the Scottish giants at the start of this season before making only 11 league appearances from 30 games.
