Dutch midfielder Tahith Chong has thrown his Manchester United future in doubt after admitting that he doesn’t want to return to the club in the coming season.
The 21-year-old has been out on loan this season first with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen and then to Club Brugge in January with his latest move seemed to have paid off.
The youngster who has been a key member of the Belgian side has provided four assists in eight appearances for the club and admitted that he would like to extend his stay at the club for another season.
"Staying here for another year could give me stability, but that's for later. As far as I know, there is no option in the agreement; we will have to discuss that with Manchester United later. I like Belgium, it is a bit the same as the Netherlands. Something that is in my head: that by staying here maybe a little more stability can come, but it is now super difficult to fully focus on that," the player said in an interview with Sport/Voetbalmagazine (via Sport Witness).
Chong’s contract with United ends in 2022 with his club set to decide if they want to renew his contract and loan him out again, or potentially sell him this summer for a profit.
