We showed real character, Bukayo Saka reflects on Arsenal win

Bukayo Saka believes Arsenal showed character after the north London side advanced to the semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals and were left in need of a win or high-scoring draw in order to advance to the last four. The Gunners were in fine form and overpowered Slavia as they put four past the hosts, registering a 5-1 victory on aggregate.

Speaking to BT Sport, Saka said, "I think we showed real character because we got the first one, and then it was disallowed. It took quite a while."

"We were really strong and pretty much killed the game in the first half. I feel like we played well in the first leg but we just weren’t clinical. Credit to the coaching staff, the way we pressed, they just couldn’t get out."

"I think it showed everyone how good we can be. It is amazing to be involved in and I am sure it is amazing for the fans. We just need to cut out the mistakes and show the game management we did tonight."

"We did it for all the fans. They deserve it for all the support they give us."

Arsenal will now face Villarreal and their former manager Unai Emery in the semi-finals, with the first leg in Spain on April 29, before the return leg at the Emirates on May 6.
