Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has apologized for missing a penalty during their loss to Chelsea on Saturday night.
The Argentine had a chance to double City’s lead in the game after they were awarded a spot-kick and he chose to go for a Panenka which terribly failed with Edouard Mendy grabbing his effort easily.
The miss proved to be costly as City was pinned back by the Thomas Tuchel side who went to win the tie late on.
Taking to Twitter, Aguero said: "I would like to apologize to my teammates, staff, and supporters for missing the penalty. It was a bad decision and I take full responsibility."
City has had a tendency of missing penalties this season with Aguero’s miss being the fourth penalty the club has missed in the 2020-21 Premier League season.
As well as Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, and Raheem Sterling have all fluffed their lines from the spot before.
4 - Manchester City have failed to score more penalties than any other side in the Premier League this season. They're the first side to miss 4+ penalties in consecutive Premier League campaigns since Tottenham Hotspur in 1993-94/1994-95. Bewildered. #MCICHE— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) May 8, 2021
