Copa America: Uruguay, Paraguay advance to knock out stage

Uruguay and Paraguay advanced to the knockout stages of Copa America following their wins over Bolivia and Chile respectively.

Paraguay beat Chile 2-0 in a group stage match staged at Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha. Braian Samudio opened the scoring for the visitors before  Miguel Almirón scored a penalty in the second half to secure their second victory of group A.

Meanwhile, Uruguay registered their first win of the tournament after beating Chile 2-0, moving above them in the group standing. Jairo Quinteros was unlucky, putting the ball into his own net to gift Uruguay the lead before Edinson Cavani netted the second of the game.

Argentina leads Group A with seven points, followed by Paraguay with six. Chile has five, one more than Uruguay while Bolivia haven't picked a single win and remain with zero points.

Uruguay and Paraguay will clash on Monday in a match that will decide which team faces defending champions and favorites Brazil in the quarterfinals.

Bolivia will play against Argentina on the same day, needing a win against Lionel Messi's team and a Paraguayan defeat to have any chance of going through.
