Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur went 1-0 down against Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira in their Europa Conference League play-off first leg on Thursday.
Lucas Silva scored the game’s only goal which means the North London club will have to score more than two goals if they are to proceed to the net round of the competition.
Despite starting some of their new signings in the game, Spurs were to go behind moments before halftime when Lucas Silva finished well after bursting through on goal.
Spurs were to get so many chances to kill the game but the Portuguese held on to the win and will hope for the same magic when they travel to London in a week's time for the return leg.
Attention for Spurs now turns to the league where they will be hoping to build on their opening day win over Manchester City when they take Wolves at the Mollenix.
