Barcelona’s coach Ronald Koeman has said letting go of Antoine Griezmann was a hassle but was nonetheless beneficial for the club.
As Futaa confirmed this week, Griezmann has left Barca to return to his old club Atletico Madrid after a struggled spell at Camp Nou.
If the decision from the club was a shock, what are the views of coach Koeman on losing such a proven star in La Liga?
“The aggravation we had on the last day, with practically no time to find a solution, it was a b*tch," the Dutch tactician told Sport.
“Griezmann had a great contract and if he left it was going to help improve the financial situation of the club. That's why I agreed to his departure,” Koeman concluded.
The former Netherlands coach also took the moment to reveal why he made the surprise signing of the replacement striker Luuk De Jong.
“I had already spoken to [De Jong] in early August about the possibility of signing him. I wanted a forward different from what I had and I thought of him because I know him very well,” he concluded.
