Joan Laporta: My patience with Ronald Koeman is wearing thin

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that his patience with Ronald Koeman, the club's manager, is running out.

Last season, the Dutchman could only manage a third-place finish with Barcelona, and his team has started the 2021-22 season with eight points from four games.

In a recent press appearance, Koeman refused to accept questions from the media, instead reading a statement appealing for help, and Laporta has now expressed his growing dissatisfaction with the 58-year-old.

Speaking to Sport, Laporta said: "We found out at the last minute that he wanted to make a statement and, well, he's obliged to attend press conferences and he's free to respond or speak as he wishes.

"We respect the coach's decision, but we and the captains found out a bit before. We're in a difficult moment and I think that we should have a lot of serenity and wait for a good result tomorrow against Cadiz, because that's what interests us, situations which you overcome with results."

Koeman reads club statement instead of answering questions

When asked if his patience with Koeman was starting to wear thin, the Barca president simply responded: "Yes, of course."

Following Monday's last-gasp tie with Granada, the Blaugrana prepare to face Cadiz in a LaLiga match on Thursday, and the club is said to have drawn up a five-man shortlist of potential replacements.

The Cadiz match ended in a 0-0 draw.
