Africa World Cup qualifiers roundup: Nigeria bounces back to beat CAR; Uganda, Tanzania win

Nigeria bounced back from their shock midweek loss to beat Central African Republic 2-0 and move top of Group C in their hunt for a place in next year's World Cup.

The Super Eagles suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Central Africa nation on Wednesday but bounced back in Douala thanks to goals from Leon Balogun and Victor Osimhen.

Elsewhere, Uganda and Mali will battle for Group E's single slot in the next round of World Cup qualifiers after they won their round four matches on Sunday.

Uganda beat neighbours Rwanda 1-0 in Kampala, with Fahad Bayo scoring the lone goal that gave the Cranes their second successive win.

In Nairobi, Harambee Stars' hopes of making it to next year's event were crashed after they lost 1-0 to Mali.

This was their second successive loss at the hands of the West African nation following their 5-0 success in Wednesday's match.

Here are the results of the day;

  • Kenya 0-1 Mali
  • Central Africa 0-2 Nigeria
  • Benin 0-1 Tanzania
