Aston Villa's Matty Cash switches international allegiance to Poland

Aston Villa defender Matty Cash has confirmed his move to play for Poland at the international level.

The move comes after the player's application for citizenship was approved and is now in line to make his international debut alongside Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski in next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary.

Cash was pictured at the Polish embassy in London over the weekend and qualifies to play for them via his mum's parents who were born in Gdansk.

Cash has made 38 appearances for Villa since joining last summer, scoring his first goal for the club earlier this season against Everton. The defender who came through the ranks at Wycombe Wanderers and Nottingham Forest did not represent England at the youth level.
