Leonardo, PSG's director, has stated that the club will seek an agreement from FIFA to prevent Lionel Messi from joining the Argentina team.
Due to hamstring and knee discomfort, the 34-year-old has missed his team's recent Champions League tie with RB Leipzig and Ligue 1 win over Bordeaux.
Despite the fact that Messi was called up for Argentina's World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil, Leonardo has stated that PSG will do everything possible to prevent Messi from joining his national squad.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Leonardo said: "We do not agree with letting a player leave for international duty who, for us, is not in physical condition or is at the recovery stage. It's not logical, and these kinds of situations merit that we establish a rule with FIFA."
Despite the fact that the midfielder was previously ruled out until after the international break with a thigh injury, Leandro Paredes has also been called up to the Copa America champions' team this month.
Messi has yet to score or assist in five Ligue 1 games for PSG, but he has three goals in as many Champions League appearances.
