Eden Hazard's lack of playing time at Real Madrid this season has been "strange," according to Belgium coach Roberto Martinez.
Since coming from Chelsea in 2019, the 30-year-old has had an injury-plagued career at the Bernabeu, but has generally been fit and available thus far in 2021-22.
However, under Carlo Ancelotti, the forward has only started four La Liga games this season, prompting Martinez to criticize his lack of playing time.
"It is an unusual situation, we did not expect it. Medically speaking, he is fine and we know that he is doing extra work to be in shape," Martinez told HLN.
"He wants to do everything possible to reach his maximum level again.
"We won't get worried until Eden stops enjoying football, but for now, that is not the case. I think he can finish the season strong."
Hazard is expected to play for Belgium in a World Cup qualifier against Estonia on Saturday.
