English Championship side Sheffield United has released a statement following the collapse of John Fleck in their clash against Reading on Tuesday night.
Play was halted for 11 minutes in the second half after the Scotland international fell on the field and required medical attention.
According to manager Slaviša Jokanović, Fleck seems to be on the road to recovery after the incident after he was rushed to the hospital.
“I can’t comment on a lot of it but he is in hospital, he is conscious and he asked for the result. Hopefully, he will be okay. He is safe, in good hands and we pray that everything will be okay.
“He collapsed under no contact. I’m not a doctor so don’t want to say too much but it’s positive news and he’s being looked after well. I don’t want to get any information wrong but generally, it’s positive,” the manager said.
After the collapse, Fleck received oxygen treatment and regained consciousness before leaving the stadium via an ambulance for further checks at Royal Berkshire Hospital.
Despite the scare, Sheffield were to rally to beat Reading 1-0 with the result seeing them climb to 16th on the log.
