French winger Ousmane Dembele has rejected a new offer from Barcelona with the player destined to leave Camp Nou in the summer.
Dembele has strongly been linked with a move to the Premier League with Newcastle United and Manchester United interested as reported by the Sun via Chronicle Live. Eddie Howe's side is keeping tabs on negotiations at the La Liga side with a view to sign the winger next summer.
The Magpies have been linked with a pre-contract agreement for the French winger in January and are set to enter negotiations with the 24-year-old in January which would allow him to move to St. James' Park on a free transfer next summer.
Barça manager Xavi on Ousmane Dembélé contract: “I spoke with him & made my stance clear - how important he is for us in the long run” 🇫🇷 #FCB @ReshadRahman_— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) November 26, 2021
“It depends on him and his environment. He tells me that he is happy, so hopefully he renews. It’s his choice”. #Dembele
Dembele's annual wage is a staggering £16.9 million per annum which Newcastle are reported to be able to match after securing a new owner but there is fear that the club might spend a lot on other players of Dembele's stature.
Barcelona wants to keep Dembele for a longer period but their financial position cant allow a player like the Frenchman to stay at the club when he doesn't play regularly.
