French winger Ousmane Dembele is ready to sign a new deal at Barcelona after a long period of negotiations.
Dembele's contract with the Laliga giants will be coming to an end in the summer and there were fears that the player would have left for free after he was strongly linked with a move to the Premier League.
Foot Mercato reports that says the French player is ready to commit his future to Camp Nou and has told his agents to finalize a renewal. The player is said to have had concrete offers from Bayern Munich and Newcastle United but wanted to stay at Barca and prove himself.
Xavi on Ousmane Dembélé out of contract in June: “I feel positive with him again. Ousmane says that he wants to continue, that he is happy here. It is a matter of agreeing with his representative. He knows about the importance he will have if he stays”. 🤝🇫🇷 #FCB pic.twitter.com/WSlJffSx0Z— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) December 17, 2021
Barça's director of football Mateu Alemany declared recently that "the Dembele issue has to be sorted before the end of the year" because from January 1 he is free to talk to other clubs. An agreement however seems to have been reached with the player who has been hampered by injuries at Camp Nou.
The player's new deal is expected to be for two years until 2024.
